About the Journal

Self-Assembly and Molecular Electronics (SAME) is a multidisciplinary peer-reviewed open access journal covering the areas of molecular electronics, self-assembly and nanotechnology, bringing together the worlds of molecular design, novel bottom-up design and manufacturing of functional devices. We welcome bold, cross-disciplinary research from molecular chemistry and supramolecular assembly through nanoscopic device integration and modelling, that advances the frontier of how organised molecular systems can create, control and manipulate electronic, optical and sensing functions. The journal is dedicated to work that moves beyond isolated molecules or materials and toward self-assembled architectures capable of delivering emergent behaviours, scalable integration and new functionalities. SAME encourages original cross-disciplinary full research articles, rapid communications of important new scientific and technological findings and state-of-the-art reviews.

SAME invites both experimental and theoretical contributions covering (but not limited to) the following themes:

  • Molecular electronics & devices
  • Self-assembly & supramolecular architectures
  • Hybrid and interface systems
  • Charge, spin and energy transport phenomena in assembled systems
  • Advanced characterisation & instrumentation
  • Modelling, simulation & data-driven design
  • Applications & emerging directions
  • Characterisation Techniques
